When you rent a vehicle from any rental company, a wise practice is to check it thoroughly before taking it out. The same thing goes for renting a passenger van or VIP SUV from us at Rabbit Rentals!
What sorts of things should you check for renting a passenger van or SUV?
We have outlined a small list for you! Follow this simple check out list and you’ll be sure you your passenger van is ready for your trip.
Check for visible damage.
Look for any dents, chips, or cracks in the paint, body, or windshield. Make a note on the rental agreement and take a photo and send it to our vans team on the same text thread where you received your pick-up instructions. Our team will relay that to our accounts team who will make note of it, and make sure that the cost of repairs is not applied to your rental.
Check the odometer.
Take a photo of it, so that you can have it for your records. Our cans team takes a photo of this before the start of each rental as well, and we note them in your rental account, but technology is sometimes tricky and things occasionally get lost. Because we charge $.30/mile from our Utah County location for any mileage over the limit, this could help prevent you getting charged for mileage overages that you did not incur.
You can also write the number in on the rental agreement where it says mileage. Make sure you have that included when you send the photo of the signed rental agreement!
Check the gas gauge.
It is our procedure to start and end each rental with a full tank of gas, but it has happened once or twice in the past that one has been missed. When this happens, we are happy to credit that amount back to the rental for the difference. To know how much to credit back, it is helpful to have a photo of the starting gas gauge. If you immediately take it to a fill station and fill it all the way up, take a photo of the total spent as well. Send these over to our vans team, and we will make sure your rental is credited for the amount.
Check the tire pressure.
Is one tire looking low? The change in seasons from one to the next can affect the outside air pressure, which also affects the air pressure of the tires. Make sure that the tires look nice and round. If you notice that some tires need some air, take the time to give them a fill. Your bank account will thank you (Did you know that it takes more gas to drive a vehicle with low tire pressure??).
Check the dashboard.
Are there any indicator lights on? Is it showing that it needs an oil change? Or that there is an issue with the backup camera? Our vans team checks for these before each rental, but as our rentals are contactless, it might happen that an indicator goes on after our check has been completed. If this occurs, please contact us immediately and we will swap that vehicle out for another so that we can address the issue and ensure that your vehicle is safe and ready to drive.
